Empowering Your Educational Journey
Yoni Kadden is an innovative history teacher with over 25 years of experience empowering high school students with a love of history and critical thinking. In the classroom, Yoni fosters an environment where students gain the independence and confidence in the skills necessary for their collegiate and professional careers, and to become engaged citizens and community leaders.
Historical thinking serves as a building block for understanding any subject. While exploring stories of the past, students learn how to closely read evidence, source material, and contextualize the events they are studying. Yoni uses these skills to help students understand the choices made by people of the past and to apply what they’ve learned to their own lives today. Yoni’s history classes enhance students' literacy in key areas such as media, policy, and law. Students are encouraged to question: "How do you know what you think you know?" and "How is your conception of self, culture, and nationality shaped by history?"
Outside of the classroom, Yoni has led many educational trips, including Civil Rights journeys to the American south, government deep dives in Washington DC, and Jewish History trips to Poland. He coaches Gann Academy’s state- champion mock trial team and consults with other teachers and schools to help them develop their own history programs. He also has extensive experience as a speaker in adult education and as a tour provider of Boston’s formerly Jewish neighborhoods. Bring Yoni to speak in your classroom or adult ed space today!
